Capture a performance
You finish with: A dry vocal recording or a deliberately played instrumental phrase.
Step 1: Prepare the recording
Listen for: the rhythm and note lengths you want, or a clean vocal test.
No microphone or MIDI keyboard?
No microphone? Choose the instrumental route. No MIDI keyboard? Draw the rhythm and note lengths you hum in the Piano Roll, then compare two versions.

Step 2: Capture the input
Listen for: one complete phrase; for vocals, your voice dry, with no effects.
Hearing an echo?
Listen through only one monitoring route: interface direct monitoring or FL Studio. Keep dry audio even when you use pitch correction later.

Step 3: Save and check
Listen for: your phrase, audible and in time, with no clipped sound.
Finish
The check: Is your phrase in the track, audible, in time and free of clipping, and saved? Then you’re done.
