Make space around a phrase

Step 1: Give the lead its own track

1. Open FirstTrack.
2. In the lead’s Channel Settings, use TRACK to assign a free Mixer insert.
3. In the Mixer (F9), rename that insert Lead.
4. In one effect slot on Lead, choose Fruity Reeverb 2.

The reverb is part of the instrument’s sound.

Listen for: your lead with a tail of space after each note.

Step 2: Compare two spaces

1. Loop a phrase with a gap.
2. Compare a short DEC (decay) with a long DEC.
3. Keep everything else still.
4. Lower WET if the tail overwhelms the phrase.

Listen for: the gap, and how far the tail rings into it.

Step 3: Save and check

1. Save FirstTrack with the version that supports your phrase.
2. Bypass the effect once to check what it contributes.

Listen for: the difference between the reverb bypassed and back on.
